The BIOTECH SUMMIT AUSTRIA 2024 in Innsbruck brought together leaders, innovators and investors to network, interact and to enjoy being part of the booming Austrian biotech community. It showcased science, funding and collaboration opportunities, setting the stage for 2025 in Graz.

Against the backdrop of Vienna’s historic charm, BIOTECH AUSTRIA, the association for the Austrian biotech industry,
recently invited leading industry representatives to the Vienna Stock Exchange to mark the third anniversary of the association.

Austria has once again come a little closer to its goal of achieving the highest research and development rate (R&D rate) in the EU. Two thirds of R&D investments are made by industry, of which around 16% are made by foreign companies. Two current examples of investments in Austria from the life sciences sector are Novartis and Ligand Pharmaceuticals.

Eva Schlintl joined the LISAvienna team at the beginning of September. Most recently, she managed the LISA – Life Science Austria programme of Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH (aws).

2. BIOTECH CIRCLE – Almost twice as many visitors as at last year’s premiere were welcomed by Biotech Austria’s Chairman Peter Llewellyn-Davies in the Vienna Stock Exchange in April. Framed by a “Flying Breakfast”, the topic was the provocative question “Science always wins?!”
