INDUSTRIA BIOTEC 2023 with a broader perspective

"Solutions for an endangered planet" is what industrial biotechnology seeks and offers. Technical innovations based on nature's toolbox are intended to help "biologise" industry - in other words, to adapt it to the natural cycles of our planet.

At this year’s INDUSTRIA BIOTEC – a European industry meeting that took place at the KINDL Centre for Contemporary Art in Berlin at the beginning of October – it became clear that many biotechnical solutions to climate change are already fully developed (see report on page 58). However, it is taking too long to introduce them on a large scale, because the oil-dependent conglomerates and stolid politicians are putting the brakes on development. This will also be the focus of INDUSTRIA BIOTEC 2023, which will once again take place in Berlin on 5 and 6 October next year.

The first day of the two-day event will again be dedicated to the major topics of Industrial Biotechnology: food, energy, waste to value, chemistry and capital. Here, industry representatives in particular will discuss the latest opportunities and developments. On the second day, the conference will open up to identify obstacles to growth together with politicians and organisations and look for ways to speed up market access. As in 2022, there will also be a partnering and start-up pitches. The conference language is English.
