SLAS Journals Spotlight AI in Drug Discovery

The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) invites you to publish your research in our two Elsevier Gold Open Access peer-reviewed journals, SLAS Discovery (Impact Factor 3.3) and SLAS Technology (Impact Factor 3.7). SLAS Technology reveals how scientists adapt technological advancements for life sciences exploration and experimentation in biomedical research and development. SLAS Discovery reports how scientists develop and use novel technologies and/or approaches to provide and characterize chemical and biological tools to understand and treat human disease.

Both journals are currently accepting submissions for two Special Issues dedicated to artificial intelligence in the life sciences.

SLAS Discovery | Real-Life Case Studies in AI-Driven Drug Discovery Workflows

Guest editors: Raminderpal Singh, PhD (HitchhikersAI) and Srijit Seal, PhD (Uppsala University). The Special Issue seeks original research, reviews and perspectives documenting real-world deployment of AI and machine learning across drug discovery, from target identification through lead optimization. Rather than theoretical models, editors are seeking measurable outcomes, honest performance assessments and lessons learned, including negative results.

SLAS Technology | Self-Driving Laboratories: AI-Powered Experimental Discovery and Autonomous Science

Guest Editors: Yao Fehlis, PhD (Kungfu.AI) and Joseph Brown, PhD (University of Toronto). This Special Issue will examine how AI, robotics and automated instrumentation are enabling closed-loop experimental workflows across chemistry, biology, materials science and drug discovery.

Both issues welcome original research, reviews and technical briefs. All submissions will undergo peer review. Completed manuscripts are accepted through 15 December 2026, with authors asked to select the corresponding Special Issue article type upon submission.
