Solar Foods continues expansion in the US

After Finnish protein powder producer Solarfoods signed a strategic agreement with two US food manufacturers to supply 6,000 tonnes of Solein from 2030 onwards, the company has now announced a more concrete partnership with US flavour manufacturer Sensapure Flavours Inc.

The aim of the collaboration with Sensapure is to market new, jointly developed flavour combinations for ready-to-drink sugar-free protein shakes and ready-to-drink protein drinks based on Solein in the US.

Sensapure will present the first concepts at the global food science and innovation trade fair IFT FIRST in Chicago from 13 to 16 July. The ready-to-drink Solein® Shake will be presented in chocolate and cinnamon roll flavours. The shake contains 20 g of protein per 300 ml serving. A Solein protein drink will also be available in two flavours: chai and sweet velvet lemon. The drink contains 32g of protein per 355ml serving.

The protein powder, produced from CO2, green hydrogen and solar power through bacterial fermentation, contains all nine essential amino acids and branched-chain amino acids without cholesterol or saturated fats. In addition, unlike plant-based protein, Solein contains iron and vitamin B12.

Sensapure develops customised flavours for a variety of leading manufacturers and brands of functional foods.
