
Experienced CEO takes over
By appointing Olav Hellebø as Chief Executive Officer, biotechnology company Exonate Ltd. aims to accelerate the clinical development of its lead candidate for diabetic eye disease.
British biotechnology company Exonate has appointed Olav Hellebø as its Chief Executive Officer. He takes over the leadership of the company at a time when strengthening the executive team and initiating a Phase IIb clinical trial of the lead candidate EXN407 for diabetic eye disease are key priorities.
Hellebø brings many years of leadership experience in the international pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. During his career, he has held senior positions at Schering-Plough (now Merck), Novartis and UCB. As Chief Executive Officer of ReNeuron Group, he also led the in-licensing of a programme for retinitis pigmentosa and oversaw equity financings totalling US$125 million. In addition, he serves on the boards of several biotechnology companies.
