Two of the U.K.’s largest life sciences real-estate projects have moved forward within days of each other, with major expansion plans unveiled in London and Cambridge as both regions look to add new laboratory and research capacity.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation has committed up to DKK 5.5 billion (€736 million) to the BioInnovation Institute (BII), a Copenhagen-based hub for life science and deep tech entrepreneurship. The long-term funding, running from 2026 to 2035, aims to strengthen Denmark’s innovation capacity while helping Europe turn scientific excellence into companies, jobs and solutions.

British investment firm SV Health Investors has secured US$269m for its second fund, Dementia Discovery Fund, or DDF-2. The capital will be used to invest in companies developing or enabling novel therapeutics for dementia.

BioSpring GmbH has broken found for one of the world’s largest production facilities for pharmaceutical nucleic acid-based therapeutics. The new high-tech plant will significantly expand the company’s manufacturing capacity for RNA- and DNA-based active pharmaceutical ingredients, and will support Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-compliant production for large-scale projects on behalf of BioSpring’s global partners.

Swedish clinical-stage pharmaceutical company Vicore Pharma has secured SEK100m, supported by existing and new investors. The injection of capital will allow the company to scale the clinical development of its portfolio of therapies in respiratory and fibrotic diseases.

CordenPharma is making a record investment of about €900m over the next three years in expanding its peptide platform, both at its Colorado, US site and in Europe.
