According to the agreement, which follows a 24 month collaboration of the companies, Virbac will be responsible for the development of a reusable administration and closure system for vials specially adapted to administration of products selected by Virbac. The first deliveries of the €1m contract are expected to materialise in Q2/2018 at the latest. Subsequently, the product will be industrialised.

Biocorp has already 30 products on the market, the major part being innovative medical plastics. A growing part of the company’s revenues, which is listed on Alternext since 2015, is coming from so-called Internet-connected alternative delivery systems to aluminium capsules, syringes and vial administration systems that improve patient adherence to medication and monitoring.

Biocorp currently has four partnerships with undisclosed major pharma companies: two – one in growth hormone deficiency, the other in an undisclosed indication – for its data pen, a reusable smart injection pen that automatically transmits data to a mobile app, helping patients to manage their treatment. A 9-months license agreement subject to extension for a further 9 months for validation purposes with an undisclosed insulin major is related to Easylog, an add-on which transforms traditional pens (either disposable or reusable pens) into connected devices, for monitoring blood glucose levels of diabetes patients. Another partnership is designed to validate the Easylog system in Parkinson’s disease. Inspair, an appropriate unpartnered add-on for inhalers launched last year is under development for asthma/COPD.
