Dive into one of Europe’s most vibrant life science ecosystems
On 3 February 2027, life – the biomedical convention returns to the Heidelberg Congress Center, bringing together around 500 scientists, entrepreneurs, investors and industry leaders from across Germany and neighbouring countries.
Hosted by bioRN Life Science Cluster, the conference offers a unique gateway into one of Europe’s strongest life science ecosystems. The Rhine-Neckar region combines world-class research institutions, global pharmaceutical companies, innovative SMEs and a rapidly growing startup community—creating an environment where scientific excellence meets entrepreneurship and where biomedical innovation is translated into real-world impact.
The scientific programme is built around two complementary tracks. Biomedical Innovations highlights breakthrough research, novel technologies and translational success stories emerging from the region’s vibrant ecosystem. AI in Health explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping every stage of biomedical innovation—from AI-driven drug discovery and computational biology to digital pathology, precision medicine and data-driven diagnostics. Beyond technological advances, the programme will also address key questions surrounding regulation, data integration and the evolving role of researchers, clinicians and industry as AI becomes an integral part of healthcare.
More than 30 exhibitors will showcase the latest technologies, services and innovations, while the exhibition area serves as a lively meeting point throughout the day. Short Lunch Talks provide practical learning nuggets during the breaks, offering fresh perspectives on emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and innovation in concise, inspiring sessions.
A particular highlight is the Young Scientists Pitch Competition, where outstanding early-career researchers present their most promising ideas to an expert jury and an audience of leading decision-makers from academia and industry—creating visibility for the next generation of biomedical innovators.
What truly distinguishes life is its exceptional networking atmosphere. With representatives from approximately 200 companies, research institutes and organisations, the convention offers countless opportunities to exchange ideas, establish new collaborations, meet future partners and expand professional networks—all within a single day.
Not the biggest conference. Perhaps the most connected.
Whether you are looking for scientific inspiration, strategic partnerships, investment opportunities or simply want to experience one of Europe’s most dynamic life science regions firsthand, life – the biomedical convention 2027 is the place to be. Join us in Heidelberg and become part of the conversations shaping the future of biomedicine.
