Nature's Principles
- Founded in: 2019

- Country: Netherlands
Which input provides your business model/core technology towards a bio-based economy?
Our mixed culture fermentation process enables lactic acid and poly-lactic acid (bioplastic) production from low value waste streams (e.g. pulp, molasses). Waste streams that would otherwise be used for less efficient processes (e.g. subsidy dependent bioethanol, incineration)
Which market/clients do you address and which short-term/long-term goals do you have?
In 2020/2021 we want to start production on pilot scale and bring our first kilo of product to market. Initial focus will be cosmetics applications and potentially already PLA. In the longer term we want to utilize our process solely for PLA (bioplastic) production, cycling up low waste streams to biodegradable plastic.
What makes your approach unique compared to other stakeholders in the field?
We have patented the technology, no other party can currently produce lactic acid through mixed culture fermentation at competitive production costs.
You can meet Nature's Principles at EFIB in Brussels on 30 September – 2 October 2019.
